In this work I have been researching the characteristics of four site-specific clays that I self-extracted and processed in the last two years. The materials are dug up and collected from construction sites in Gothenburg, Sweden. The city of Gothenburg has a significant abundance of earthenware, which raises problems in urban planning due to the high risk of landslides, thus the material is relocated elsewhere. I am interested in the material-state and aesthetic of the in between. I explored material qualities as well as the interplay and merge of two materials and their contrasting properties – earthenware and porcelain. Casted in a „temporary“ shape of a plastic bag, opening questions of material values whilst approaching the in between.
